It's not that he's confused as to the meaning of the phrase; he's just not sure what kinds of crazy things the other Diamonds are getting up to if the King feels the need to reassure him of that. Well, at least now he knows he's got some leeway, should he feel the need to pick up any odd hobbies. That actually sounds like it might be a good thing to do here--it could come in handy for challenges, and Joseph has absolutely no intention of staying a Two for a minute longer than necessary.

No, now that he thinks about it, that won't do. Not if they're on the upper floors. Not with all those windows. If there's one irrational thing about Joseph, it's his terror of heights. He'll put curtains up in the office, but he's living on the ground floor.

All things considered, that's a minor problem to have here, when everything else about this situation is turning out so very well.
