A storm to would-be death

[He'd gotten the power back. He'd finally (though it was hard to tell if his efforts had actually done anything for it) coordinated everything and the power was back on.

And he was so tired. Ready to sleep. Sleep harder and longer than he had in years. Until this little anonymous (no, that wasn't true. He knew him, knew all his Spades. It was just the exhaustion talking, the exhaustion) had appeared to what?

What, exactly did this child thing he could do to the King of Spades?

Nothing.

Which is why his voice is a frozen rumble as be literally tosses the would-be assassin out of his room, stalking into the hallway after the body.]

That is not acceptable behavior.

All of him or only pieces? [Oh, David, you spoil her terribly.]

Perhaps you will make introductions later? I would not wish to appear impolite. [If their combined rage will not break him, nothing will.]

"'Welcome. And, no, Sir. Been lookin' forward to it. Know a few folk from your Suit already, so made sense for His Majesty to choose me. I didn't mind much. Always happy to get out and meet people. And given recent events, reckon it's 'bout time we all get to know each other better. Mighty good idea you had.

"Anyone else I can send your way?"

[Don't mind him none. No one can stand around and jaw quite like Monty can.]

Fun.

[She stands up when the guards take him from her, ready to fetch Chives as soon as she's done talking.

I'll do my best. [If he's an Outsider, she will find something though she doubts it. She would have seen it earlier. But if he's a Deckborn? Well, maybe he might be leaving fingerprints in places she needs to clean up.]

It was a well honed, fine tuned talent that few others possessed- that sarcastic politeness. He made a bow, a hand crossed over his chest as he bent at the waist, watching David from the corner of his eye.

"As you wish," he said, coming up right again to follow David into the office. He took quick stock of the scene in front of him, though, frowning a little. No, he had no real love for David- but he had always put the Spades above everything. Having a living King, at the moment, was to their advantage.

...And just when she was coming to cuddle because it's a storm, even if it's not That Kind of storm.

PJs are in full gear -- although there's extra bundling, even though power is back and heat is returning to the castle a little at a time. Her room really isn't warm yet, but that's okay, because it's been a while since she visited Papa, and surely he could use some --

The entire line of thinking is ruined when a body collides with the wall. It takes a minute for her to respond, to decide between her instincts as his daughter to protect him (surely he'd return the favor, were it necessary, because they're family, right?), and her instincts as a Spade to let her King prove his dominance when it's so clear that he can. With the man limp on the floor, not yet recovered from the shock of being thrown quite literally out of a room, Amy steps forward.

"I'll call someone." Because surely, with the guy laying prone and David still standing, dominance is expressed, isn't it? He doesn't look like he's getting up anytime soon.

Then I will let you get on with your fun. Try to save some for me?

[She bends down and pulls the boy's head up by the hair.] You are in for treat. I hope you are appreciating attention your lord and king plans to be giving you.

[With that, she releases her grip and lets the would-be assassin's head crash back to floor.] Until later, my Lord.

[And that tendency makes him like half the people on the Deck. No one would ever deny that Monty enjoys the sound of his own voice. It's an excellent way to wear down someone fixing to assign you some nasty job you'd ruther not do. To bad it hadn't worked on this assignment.]

I'll do that, my Lord. [This time his bow's a bit more polished as he takes his leave.]

[Well, this wasn't an unfamiliar sight. Of course, in her childhood, the would-be assassins had been ejected from the Queen's rooms, and her mother's rages had certainly had a different flavor.

Though there was certainly an element, she thinks as she slows her steps, of something unhinged.]

David.

[Only an idiot would reach out for the King of Spades when he has that look in his eyes, but that doesn't stop her from moving closer. She doesn't try to touch, but she's moving closer. Making the call for the night shift guards to come get this idiot doesn't take much time, and no one questions why she's not doing something about it despite being part-time guard herself.

And then she's snapping her phone closed, dropping it into the pocket of her oversized cardigan.]

What happened? I swear to God, five minutes ago things were quiet and fairly peaceful in here. Rundown. I need it.

[...Despite not being a guard responsible for hauling this guy's sorry ass off, she can take a statement and submit a report. She did it for years, after all.]

Victor tilted his head a little, looking at the space behind the door before squatting down to look over the lock. There were soft scratches at the lock, faint enough that without close inspection no one would have noticed. Reaching up he turned the bolt left and right to be sure the lock still worked.

New to the game, Victor thought, but still not very good. After all, the only hints Victor had left had been the fact that the locks had remained unlocked- due mostly to time. He could have rest them and left no one the better for it.

Looking down at the spot the assassin had waited in, he frowned again. Cold, cramped and dark. Not ideal in the least. His muscles would have been slow due to long periods of standing still- he would have been stiff.

"Did he give you any hint as to why?" He asked, pushing himself up and closing the door with a curious look on his face.

The King would need a new lock. Probably a double cylinder- much harder to pick.

...beg pardon, sir. I... didn't wish to disturb you.

[Damnit. Well, it wasn't exactly as if the Deckborn didn't chatter on forums or didn't use lines of commuication. Something might be found. Between her on the cyber realm and David's other... handlers, something should come out of the kid, soon.]

Of course.

[She bows, turning and moving swiftly down the hall on her heels.]
