A storm to would-be death

[He'd gotten the power back. He'd finally (though it was hard to tell if his efforts had actually done anything for it) coordinated everything and the power was back on.

And he was so tired. Ready to sleep. Sleep harder and longer than he had in years. Until this little anonymous (no, that wasn't true. He knew him, knew all his Spades. It was just the exhaustion talking, the exhaustion) had appeared to what?

What, exactly did this child thing he could do to the King of Spades?

Nothing.

Which is why his voice is a frozen rumble as be literally tosses the would-be assassin out of his room, stalking into the hallway after the body.]

"I did notice, Sire," he waves at a nearby light that's now on.

At the disagreement with my reign comment, the Ace will glance sharply down at the man crumpled on the floor. Seriously? Not that he didn't necessarily understand the motivation but...how much of an amateur had this one been?

"I'll see to the guards." And then, "and Clive could manage the plows, I'm sure."

Blandly, his body relaxed as he looked at David. "Only as I said, to see if there was anything your Highness required."

Pause.

"You seem to have things well in hand though, so I suppose I'll just see to the guards and be on my way."

"How very kind of his Majesty."

And Julien bowed, the precise angle required for an Ace to the King of his Suit and no further. It's a gesture he perfected some years ago.

"Goodnight, your Highness."
