[OTA] Moves like...Kelly.

If he was really honest with himself, Alasdair was really more of a Donald O'Connor than a Gene Kelly. More energetic, more frenetic, something of a grinning goofball on the dancefloor. Of course, he wasn't on a dance floor right now. He was sitting in a chair like a normal human being, flipping through a copy of H.P. Lovecraft's Tales for the sophomore class, with his iPod on.

But doing something like this, while sitting in his chair with Lovecraft like a normal human being...was probably not actually so normal.

Then again, if you had moves like ~~Gene Kelly~~ Donald O'Connor, you probably wouldn't really care.

She grins back at him. "Well, I guess I could make up my own music...but if you want me to be in step it would help."

"That would look a little odd, wouldn't it?" He tugs out one earbud and scoots closer so they can share. Fifties-style swing is blaring out. "I suppose we need to be creative."

She'll smile and lean in to accept the earbud. "Nothing wrong with that."

Though the looks they'd get if anyone walked in and witnessed this...

He gets looks as it is, at least this would be different than What Are You Scribbling/When Are You Going To Concentrate On Your Job he gets most of the time.

He grins a little as they tap out a matching rhythm on the floor, and then the music changes, and he takes his earbud out, setting his book aside.

"So, what brings you to my neighborhood?" Not that Town wasn't basically a big neighborhood, but.

She shrugs a little as she's handing his earbud back. "I might be exploring, you know. New places?" Or, well, there were few new places when you grew up in the Deck, but...places she hadn't been in a while, certainly.

And she certainly hadn't been keeping her eyes peeled for him. That's just crazytalk.

He laughs a little, dragging his chair around to straddle it and lean his elbows on the back. "And have you found anything of interest?"

This is definitely flirting, Elani. By the way.

"Well," she says, smiling and tapping her foot a little against his chair leg, "I found a new dance to try out..."

"We couldn't do the whole thing, though, or we would have gotten tangled up in the wires. But we should try it, I think. Sometime." Be a good way to spend time together, at least. "It's a dance medley, actually. From old movies."

"We could! Or maybe there should be an old movie marathon."

She didn't always know about what was currently in theaters but movies like these tended to be traditional in the McCartney household.

"It sounds like fun." He cocks an eyebrow, though. "Though I think the movie theater in Town is going to have a little mini-festival of old movies, soon. I heard Jacques mention it."

The implication, of course, is a date.

Maybe she hesitates for a brief moment. There's something different between her thought of watching old movies at her parents' and...

...going to the theater. Together.

But then, maybe what Leona said to her echoes in her mind and she smiles at him. "Only if there's movie theater popcorn."

"I'm pretty sure that can be arranged. I can probably even manage coffee afterwards, if you'd like."

He tries to keep his voice light and casual, and nothing expectant. Elani is Elani, after all. Something of a star, really. And Alasdair is, well, ultimately rather normal.

If he called her that, she'd laugh and tell him he's exaggerating.

But as it is, she'll smile in response, "coffee sounds lovely. Thank you, Alasdair."

Tread lightly, Mr. DeWitt. Her heart's still healing.

"You're welcome, Elani."

And he'll refrain from looking giddy, but he does shoot her a grin.
