[OTA Audience - Zoe] Pumpkin Bake-off challenge (Backdated)
He'd brought the left over pumpkins to the club kitchen, and had told a few of their friends about the challenge. It was a pumpkin pie vs pumpkin flan cook off, between Zoe and Juan Pedro.
They would hold the 'challenge' after dinner, in the mess hall, where they could cook and have people judge which dessert was better.
He had to admit, he was pretty excited about this, pumpkin pie had never been something his family was into, it wasn't a traditional spanish dish, and just not suited to their tastes. But flan, now THAT was something they could stand behind.
He wasn't as good as his mother at cooking, but he could hold his own, and he wasn't about to take this little friendly challenge lying down. So he started whisking cream and sugar, beating them together into a creamy consistency, glancing over to Zoe's half of the counter to see what she was doing.
[This is a JP/Zoe friendly challenge but friends and family are more than welcome to tag in, talk to them during the preparation, and test both dishes and give their votes as to which they like best.]

Obviously.

"It's easier to be independent when you know how, at least."

She looks from one side of the kitchen to the other and grins. "Still can't manage desserts, though."
no subject
"Dessert's pretty fussy. I was burning brownies at this point last year."
no subject
Pause. "Don't tell Chives or he'll have a conniption."

She grins, though. "You'd be right next to me with the cooking lessons, and he'd make you learn - I don't know, sole amandine."
no subject
"No, just no. Nothing against you, but I do not trust a combination of me and him near any hot liquids."
no subject
"Oooh." She winces. "Which one of you might be goaded into scalding?"
no subject
"Depends on what you start us on," Annie shrugs. "I mean, unless someone else is standing over us making sure he sticks to instructions and no snippy insults and I stick to just cooking, it's up in the air who gets hurt first."
no subject
"He can get snippy." She's only really heard it secondhand, since somehow she's in the safe zone from butler insults. "Some of the things he says to the Threes and Fours I'd smack him on the head for." She says it out of love, Chives.

"As long as he doesn't get personal, he's okay." Unfortunately, they slip into the personal far too often. "You've got to wonder, though, when the Lower Numbers are gonna stage a revolution."
no subject
"Take back the kitchens?" That has Zoe's eyebrows rising high. "I don't think that would go...well."

ChivesScallion might probably stir it up in the first place."The rest of the castle'd have to eat out for most of it, though."
