{log ota} a ghostea party

Pinkies out, teacups up, long sip. Long sip at air, but that's not the point. The point is the lovely sitting across from her -- has he left? No, she can still hear whispers, many whispers. There are a lot now, because it's fall-almost-cold and that's when they come. Just whispers. Once more, but not now.

Piper's found a dress for the occasion - possibly stolen it, but she'll return it, of course. How she procured a table for the occasion? Impossible to tell. And even more inexplicable are the three chairs that are unoccupied, the lacy tablecloth that sits under a china tea set that looks like it's out of a girl's dollhouse.

Come join her for tea. After all, she's not accompanied by anyone else. Or so it seems.

He's sorry it took so long to move. The chairs, after all, don't shift as easily for him as they do for the living. Hopefully Zoë will forgive him. And accept, as penance, a light smoothing of little fingers over her hair. Maybe it's the wind.

It probably doesn't feel like the wind.

"'s not a number, Miss Piper." Will she still listen when there's a Real Person to distract?

It feels, really, like Chives when she's sitting with tea in the kitchen. Except the fingers are smaller, and less...solid. It's enough to make her empty teacup rattle in its saucer before she steadies her hands.

"Eleventy?" She echoes, though. "I don't know that number, I'm afraid."

And he'll stick his tongue out back, although no one can see it. Still satisfying to the perpetually twelve.

"Eleventy's na got Twos in it." Maybe. He's not certain. Shifts in the chair, enough to rock it slightly. "What good's a number withou' any Twos in it?"

Sleeve-tug, Zoë. Help him out.

She can definitely feel that, and it sends a shiver down her spine. Still, she'd be happy to back him up, if she knew his argument was Twos. As it is, she can only pick up her empty teacup.

"Does Chives have eleventy spoons in the kitchen?"

"Exactly!" The sparkle of laughter is brighter than usual. This, after all, is an even better tea party--and they're already The Best. "Twos and Fours. And the two of you two too! Tell her, yeah?"

She doesn't seem like one of the ones who Hears so well.

She can't be perfect at everything, no matter what certain snide people - and angry brothers - claim. And one of the areas of imperfection is that she can sense Feilim, but she's too grounded in the heavier plane to hear him.

She grins, though. "I don't know that he likes all the Twos. Only the ones that pay attention and listen. Same with all the Numbers, really."

"Even numbers are loads better," he hums. Piper's too far, on the other side of the table, so he reaches to twirl a strand of Zoë's hair instead.

"I couldn't pick favorites," Zoe says with some amusement, before her breath catches at the feel of fingers in her curls. "But I've always liked sixes."

The fingers freeze slightly, Feilim's head whipping around in confusion. "But-- numbers need ordering. Brother says so."

"I like putting numbers into their proper order." Adding them up, making them make sense; that was the crux of accounting.

She liked manipulating them too, playing with them. But that was more a finance thing.

"You're still sillier," he hums, bending over his teacup again, giving it just the slightest jangle as he sips at his 'tea.' Good to know Zoë, at least, was quite a good Matched Pair for her brother as a friend.

And, well... and that She was happy. It was oddly Important, really.
