[ota] there ain't nothing that I need

It's been a gloomy sort of week. He's blamed the holiday season for it. Holidays made a person think about home, after all--and for a large number of people, that wasn't a pleasant thing. Cadogan's hardly the only one who gets quiet when asked about family, about traditions, about 'would you be going back now if we could leave?' Home is such a completely odd word, shifts this way and that and really doesn't need to be highlighted just because it's time to celebrate the winter holiday season.

But Friday morning... Friday morning he's going to vanish for a little bit. Not out of the Deck, clearly, but into his office for a few hours when it's entirely possible he really ought to be out being a Ten.

He'll reappear in the afternoon, play catch-up with files and monitoring and all the other work he's meant to be doing in a day. With, of course, two notable breaks being made.

He's got to hug Sophie for telling his mother to come. And he's got to hug Silas for bringing her here.

{ooc; Catch Cadogan (or be caught in a hug by Cadogan) here, but if you want a whack at his mother answering questions about what a little shit he was as a kid, she's also here.}

"If you wait until it's broken, then you risk all sorts of things. Lines of communication between Castles and Outside. Might leave people stranded, definitely'll inconvenience them. And then they'll just be bitchy." And while Peter would be the first person bitched out, definitely not the last.

And he can point fingers upward.

"It's a lime green iPod Nano. I don't think they even make this color anymore."

Still, he sets it on the desk and nods to Cadogan's phone.

"You could probably just get an iPhone instead, you know, and reduce the number of wozzits you've got sitting on your desk."

Peter's a helper.

They have pink. Should Peter suggest pink? No, there's something about Cadogan that reminds him of the Five agents who actually are badass, instead of just pretending at badass. Best not.

"They've got touchscreens, see?" He has one, of course. In his back pocket. And he demonstrates. "You use it just like a keyboard. And if you really need one, I'm pretty sure there's an attachment."

Maybe that's why Peter's not a badass. He doesn't have a cat and he only has a vaguely confused and affectionate relationship with his mother.

"Yeah...about that. Is that happening anytime soon?"

Because Peter would like to go back to feeling like he's not in a constant state of claustrophobia.

So, no one knows. It's as he expected, and Peter's expression settles into his usual cool, slightly superior expression. It hid any worry about whether he'd actually be seeing anyone he'd ever known before again.

"Right..." He drawls out. "Well. I'll leave you to it."

And just go snarl at electronics in the dungeon again.
