She's hiding. She's been hiding for a few days now. Of course, she's only hiding from a few people. Chances are, if you're looking for her, she'll let herself be found.

But an angry Piper isn't a happy Piper and a not-happy Piper isn't quite fit for bouncing around the Deck and popping into castles like a happy Piper is. Which is why these past couple days, she's more often up in trees or hiding in bushes or generally not in people's faces.

Which is okay. Right? Piper can take a couple days to be a confused, raw, displeased Felicia, can't she?

"Your favorite kind," Avery says, opening the tin up and handing over a piece as Piper jumped to the ground. "I haven't seen you in the trees for a while."

Of course, that could be because she's been so busy.

"She's been with silly billies," she murmurs before nibbling at a piece of the baked treat. "No longer."

"No?" Avery takes a piece of shortbread herself, breaking a little bit off. "Did something happen, with one of them?"

"Brother's getting married." What a loser. She huffs moodily.

"Declan Chives?" That was something of a surprise, she thought. Of course, maybe after Isaac...

He wouldn't be the only person to feel their mortality. "And he's marrying someone completely, irredeemably awful, then?"

She thinks about that for a moment. “Not... not all. But... she didn’t ask. And he didn’t ask. No one cares what Piper thinks.” Mope mope.

"I doubt it's really that. I'm sure you're important, to both of them." But with that question, the most important person to ask was probably the person you planned to marry. "Maybe he got caught up in the moment and asked her before he had a chance to ask you."

Admittedly, it was hard to imagine Chives being impulsive, but anything was possible, wasn't it? Theoretically?

"Because he loves her more than me," she says sullenly, not looking at Avery directly.

"He doesn't." She watches Piper before leaning against the tree. "It's just a different sort of love. But not better, and not more important. It's just different."

[eucre]

"But he- he'll only want to spend time with her. Not me. She'll-- take him away."

[uncutclarity]

"It won't work like that," Avery says. "There's no way it will. He loves you, Piper, and we make time for that, no matter what."

She frowns for a moment, then embarks on an epic changing of the subject. "Does the Sparkly Ace need help with frosting?"

Avery pins her with a look, but then shrugs her shoulder. "I could use it. St. Patrick's Day is in less than a month. We're putting shamrocks on sticks." Well, Gwendolyn was and Avery would just. Commandeer the kitchen today.

Ignore ignore. "Then Piper can help?" Because she is useful. Somewhere.

"Of course," she says, and stretches to her feet. "Come on. We'll get started."
