[OTA] Day at the Beach

It wasn't, he supposed, really a beach yet, but the rhythmic movement of the tides were already starting to erode the the grace and soil and leave something sandier in it's place. Just at the edge for now, but in time it would become a mix of sand and stones, with only patches of the grass that was currently blanketing the ground in between patches of snow.

He kicked a pebble into the...well, sea, he supposed, and eyed it before looking out at the island with the door.

"Just when you thought things couldn't get weirder..."

"Just the door," he sniffs, lifting his head a little. "If it's going to stand there and be useless, it could at least be useless in a more attractive way. Was building up materials for it."

He turns over on his back and sits up halfway, propping himself up with his forearms. "...s'it too far to swim, you think?" Just, you know. Enquiring.

"It's too far to swim in March," Jordan says, sending Rap a look. "The water's probably just barely above the freezing point, if that. Plus, if you need any equipment, you'd have to transport that."

His brow furrows a little. "What were you going to do to it, anyway?"

[messire_messer]

"Start building round it. That little archway's lonely. It needs a proper wall." Well, proper for a given value of proper.

"Maybe I'll start wi' a bridge instead."

[falsepretences]

"New embassy?" Though, knowing Rap, it wouldn't be a rather conventional building with spires and stained glass. "It could be interesting. A bridge might be more useful in this case, though."

Because he sure as hell wasn't getting in that water.

[messire_messer]

"Not a whole building, Jordie, just a wall." Huff huff. Huff. "Could fell a nice big tree and drag it here, p'raps."

And then start carving from there. Hmm.

"Just checking, Rap." He really does hate that nickname, but apparently it's never going to die.

"Could use one of the magically appearing ones that hasn't disappeared yet." Though....that might be a bad idea, actually.

[messire_messer]

Hmm. Finger to mouth in thought. "It could be quite a good statement on how the Arcana seemed so useful in answering questions we didn't know we had, and- when it inevitably disappears, it shall also prove how we ought not set our hopes on people we can't trust. Or bridges."

Hm hm hm. Maybe two bridges.

[falsepretences]

"...I have not the faintest idea what you just said," Jordan says, but he just shakes his head. "Probably you're going to need some minions if you're building bridges."

No, he doesn't count as a minion. Find Twos, Rap. This is what they're for.

[messire_messer]

"Mmm?" he murmurs absently. "Oh, yes. We'll see who's idle when I get back to the castle. Just for the materials, and I should have a look at Mr Rasmussen's store too."

[falsepretences]

"It sounds like you've already got a plan." Which just meant that Clive was due for a headache. Not to mention every member of the Chives family, but then, they probably always had a headache where Rap was concerned.

"He'll probably enjoy the challenge of it."

[messire_messer]

Headaches where his family the Chives are concerned are always simply a bonus for Rap. He likes Clive enough not to mean to cause him headaches, though.

Blink blink. Head turned uncomfortably round to look at Jordan. "The challenge? He's just providing odds and ends for his commission. I don't believe he's interested in the door. Or a bridge."

[falsepretences]

"He likes building stuff though, doesn't he?" He still built stuff for Elisha, which Jordan technically wasn't supposed to know. But did.

"Might be interested."

[messire_messer]

He rolls over again so he can drum his heels- or more accurately, his toes. "Maybe. I'll think on it."

Give him a minute to get properly on his feet again.
