[ota] beware, be canny and careful

She doesn't regret it in the slightest. What's to regret?

Eileen is fully capable of making her own decisions. She's allowed to decide to leave Kevin behind and go visit the Spade dungeon. And someone--she's not certain who--is also fully capable of infinitely childishly telling Kevin exactly where he or she saw his theoretical charge slipping off to while he was turned around. And Kevin is not just capable but essentially required to tell her mother things like where her daughter was this past weekend.

Which means Eileen Eicheln has, for the first time in her life, seen her mother actually angry. It also means, for the first time in her life and very likely one of the first times in history, the Ace of Clubs is grounded.

Mr Kahl is allowed to bring work and keep her up to date with her studies. A student from Mr DeWitt's class is allowed to spend a bit of time letting her know what's she's missed. The King and Jack are certainly permitted to speak to their Ace at their convenience.

But everyone else? Is getting Kevin's most sympathetic smile and a firm shake of his head. "Seems house arrest is catching."

[ooc; Except probably anyone with half a reason can talk to the moodiest tween about how she done wrong. Kevin is secretly easy. Or just come shoot the shit with Kevin, I guess? o/]

"That is because...they see an Ace. But I see Eileen, who lost a friend to a prison cell, even if only for a little while. And that hurts, it hurts to watch a friend be in pain. So maybe you shouldn't have snuck off without Kevin, but the Spades certainly didn't stop you. So...Elisha and Elani can just...deal with it." He said, offering her a soft smile as he reached out to push some hair out of her face.

"Adults are wrong sometimes, you know. Especially when they don't understand what it means to you."

He was caught a bit by surprise with her sudden surge, but it only lasted a moment before he wrapped an arm around her in a hug as he sighed a little. He didn't have an answer for her question, really. He and Elisha had exhausted themselves with this argument, ending it only when it came to clear point that they would never agree on it. Elisha had decided it was best to just let it all end at that point...

They would spend the better part of the night and perhaps morning not speaking to each other while co-existing in the same space.

And that was surreal enough, but to add to it? Was the fact that they were arguing over Eileen as if she were their own child, flesh and blood. It was so very domestic of them.

"I don't know," he said after a moment, looking across the room at a wall. "I wish I did." If only he could convince Elisha that maybe it was time to let the girl just be thirteen- childhood was brief, after all. Why should they all give it up?

"Love is...always difficult." He said softly, pressing his lips to the top of her head as they sat there quietly. He didn't even know what to really tell her in that regard, honestly. So he opted to do something he didn't do often, it wasn't something he was accustomed to doing on a whim- though it seemed fitting. He sang a song.

"Ja nus hons pris ne dira sa raison, Adroitement, se dolantement non; Mes par confort puet il fere de chançon. Moult ai amis, mes povre sont li don; Honte en auront, se por ma reançon Sui ces deus yvers pris."
