It's Swing Time~
It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.
Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.
"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.
Note: Open to everyone and their brother; tag around, have fun!

She finds her cohort at last and tsks when she sees him wearing jacket. "You disappoint me, Ilyusha."

It was the good of the Suit, after all. Katya understood.
"It can come off if I get a dance, though." Only fair. And it's probably warm up on the dance floor, under all the lights.

Meaning it's probably happening.

"I hope you find yourself well, tonight?"

Power of friendship and love must be powerful indeed, that and music he actually enjoys.
"Do not think I failed to notice you neglected to say what type of picture." She laughs, clearly amused. Why else choose outfit she did?
no subject
"Did I?" He asked, quirking a brow at her before smiling ever so slightly. "You paint the finest of pictures as always, My Lady."
no subject
"You certainly know how to set yourself apart from the crowd, your Highness."
He doesn't sound disapproving of this fact at all.

Alone. Surely she would have heard otherwise. Cards gossiped like babushkas.
no subject
"I have no one on my arm tonight, no."
He rarely did, at these sort of functions. Though there was that one masquerade with Säde on his arm. That had certainly drawn stares, too.
"I'm surprised to see you escorting yourself as well," he comments, with a raised eyebrow. "There weren't dozens of cards stumbling over themselves for the opportunity?"
no subject
"Pity me. Current king has his own date and Ethan no doubt would not protest as much as you wanted to. It is spoiling all my fun. As for dozens falling over selves, that would be far too easy. Far better challenge to sneak out of castle while avoiding Chives."
no subject
"Even better if you had managed to spirit away Chives in the process."
Oh, he'd probably relent if his Queen commanded it. But it wouldn't be particularly fair to the Spade butler to make him cross the Deck for a superfluous social function.
