It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

Sophie looks wistfully at the bouncy castles. Kids have all the fun. "You're not half bad yourself. This is the best thing ever. I'm so tired of stuffy balls, aren't you?"

This? Is why they're fabulous friends. They both know that swing is fun but moon bounces are better.

Which doesn't mean she isn't getting tugged into stepping with him almost instantly. She definitely is. "Get to pretend we're not stuffy grown-ups for a bit, yeah?"

Moon bounces and roller coasters will always be better.

"Speak for yourself. I don't plan to turn into one myself." She's getting used to this, though she'll still drag her heels if he aims for the middle of the floor.

Holy absolute truth, Batgirl. Absolute truth indeed.

"You're the one with a kid, Soph. 'm barely working my way up to having a puppy yet."

He'll settle for keeping them on the edge of the floor if she doesn't mind a bit of spinning to make up for it.

If he spins her enough, she'll forget to fight (much) if he steers them further onto the floor. She smiles. Sitara is hers, at least as much as Adrien will allow her. "Adrien has been good at sharing. Why, I've only had to arm wrestle him once! You can work your way up by arranging play dates with Elani's dog."

"It'll be a good start." And absolutely right now is the moment to pop her briefly off the ground. Just for a moment, not even for throwing so much as a tiny bit of a jump. "Let me know how parenthood is."
