It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

"Do I?" He says as he turns with a raised eyebrow, and then he glances down at the jacket. "Ah, this. Yes, I tried, really, but I was caught on the way out by the butler. I decided his services were needed tonight, and I really ought not induce a heart attack."

It was the good of the Suit, after all. Katya understood.

"It can come off if I get a dance, though." Only fair. And it's probably warm up on the dance floor, under all the lights.

She nods understanding. "Ah. One must not upset butlers. They are true rulers of Deck." Her brows go up. "I dare you to fling it off dramatically during dance."

"It's certainly not us," he says dryly. His argument with Hadyn is still fresh in his mind, and there's a part of him that feels the need to prove that he can still have fun. And more to the point, not be on duty 24-7. "You dare me?" He says. "That's almost cheating."

Meaning it's probably happening.

[maidenthespade]

"Do not be silly. When have you known me not to cheat?" She taps vest under jacket. "This to follow, yes? You are setting bad example. It is making me so very sad." She pouts charmingly and not at all truthfully.

"Never once, in our many years of fruitful friendship," Elisha said. "I'm not going to take it all off. This is a family event, you know." His brow arches up. "I might be convinced to deal with the outer layers, however.

[maidenthespade]

"Only coat and vest, though if you are wanting to unbutton to waistband and brandish heavy gold chains, well, it is your party. You may go hop hop if you want to."

[cipherspeak]

"Hip hop," Elisha says, grinning as he shook his head. "No. Elani has organized such an elegant party, and Evan has...organized bouncy castles." Clubs. That was all you could say, basically. "I don't think the gold chains would fit."
