It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

"Can't say I was around for your entire life but I'm guessing.....that's a no."

But he'll let himself be grabbed. "Think I'll manage somehow. Wouldn't want to disappoint."

"I have sincere doubts you know how to disappoint a lady, handsome," she laughs, one arm dropped lazily over his shoulder while the other catches his hand properly. "You've done this before, right?"

He offers up a properly charming sort of grin, "I've faked it before, anyway."

And he's picked up a step or two here and there. Enough not to be an utter embarrassment, at least. "You just lead the way. I can follow."

Well, an absolute hum of approval for that. "Takes a big man to follow a lady. Promise I won't throw you too hard."

But no promises she wouldn't get him to throw her. Or that, at the end of the day, she wouldn't throw him a little.

They'd do just fine.

"Where's the fun in that if you didn't?"

Throwings all around for everyone! And a great deal of fun on the dance floor to boot.

And he can at least keep up with his end of the bargain of...keeping up. But he's also gentleman enough to bring her a drink afterward.

I'll assume they put on quite a display. o/

Keeping up is enough. Keeping up is keeping her laughing, keeping her smile bright and sparkling in case anyone in particular is watching.

And, beyond that, is just fun.

"You're not half bad, you know." And the drink is a nice touch.

"Not half bad but not half good either?" he asks with a smile. "Thanks. You're pretty amazing, yourself. You'll have to save another dance for me."

Sharp as a whip, this one. A tap on the nose for being a good boy.

"I'd be delighted to. Let me catch my breath, mm?"

"Your wish is my command, m'lady. Just let me know when you're ready to have another go of it."

In the mean time, he'll be fetching himself a drink too.

"You're incorrigible, Johnny. Anyone ever tell you that?" Not that it was a bad thing. It was absolutely a wonderful thing. And certainly something to clink glasses over.

"Only every other day." A few had even said it was one of his more endearing qualities and as such, it absolutely deserves a toast.

"Good. I'd hate for you not to know it." Toasts all around. "You've been behaving yourself, then?"

[fiddlerjohnny]

"Behave is such a nasty word," he laughs and takes a swallow of his drink. "But yeah, I think I might have been."

"Nothing is bad in small doses, darling. Even behaving. I hear it makes misbehaving all the better when you let go." Also behaving is good. Or something.
