It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

Note: Open to everyone and their brother; tag around, have fun!

He didn't need the smell of alcohol to be enticing. Amy spied him the moment he walked in, and that was more than plenty to have her making her way toward him. And when she was close enough, without a moment of prelude, she slipped her arms around him from behind, breathing in the scent of his suit, as well as the cologne beneath. It was comfortable, and safe.

"You look good, baby," she murmured against his shoulder, smiling. "That suit might look better on my floor, but I'll let you keep it for now," she teased. When she finally tugged him to turn around and face her properly, Amy was grinning broadly. Someone had managed to convince her to actually wear a dress, and a pair of heels, too. She'd leave the surprise to everyone else; she had a boyfriend to kiss hello.

"I did bring something to drop your jacket, vest, and tie in, plus a fresh shirt, 'cause I know you've been working all day. Y'know, just in case you're interested."

"You make it sound as if I have been slaving over a hot kitchen," he replied, smirking a little as he brushed a hand through his hair and shook his head. "Honestly it isn't so bad. And I don't know...I think the suit, suit me." He laughed a little, reaching up to brush a stray hair out of Amy's eyes.

"You're looking beautiful."

With a chuckle, she smoothed his hair down before pressing her cheek to his hand. "You don't gotta slave over an oven to look like you've had a rough day. Not that you'd know Iollan spends any time at all in the kitchen, but that ain't the point. You can keep the suit, but I like you in red. It suits you."

Turning her head, Amy pressed a delicate kiss to Clive's wrist before mumbling her thanks for that compliment. "Beautiful might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I appreciate it all the same. You do look pretty good, too -- almost edible, if you ask me."

Good enough to kiss again and steal another taste, at any rate. "Take it that means you're not changing?"

"Later," he promised, kissing her back with a smile. "Besides, I wouldn't want to look anything less than deserving of the woman on my arm tonight. And you are beautiful. Don't argue, you'll never win. I do this all day." He grinned at her then, sliding an arm around her waist.

"Come on, lets see what this mess is all about."

Laughing, Amy wrapped her own arms about his hips. "I think you'd find a way to shut me up if I tried to argue it, so I'll let it go. Still, the red is so much more vibrant. It draws attention to you, and that's not a bad things, since I managed to snag one of the best men in this damn Suit." Not the best. Of course, the men she valued and looked up to weren't necessarily good men, but she loved and trusted them.

But it was time to turn and face the dance floor. Thankfully, the music had started to slow, so that she wouldn't have to pretend to know what she was doing.

"I suspect that the King of Spades should probably be seen endorsing this whole thing, since it's sponsored by the Clubs. Can a lowly Three get a dance, my Lord?"
