cipherspeak: (that's cute darling)

It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

Note: Open to everyone and their brother; tag around, have fun!

Theo smiled and nodded back. "Evening, Greylan," he replied cordially. "Nice to see you out and about. Having a good time?"

He looks a touch sheepish, seems more people then he thought had noticed his disappearance into work. "I am. Its a great party. I feel silly for missing past parties now." He smiles some. "How about you? Are you enjoying yourself as well?"

"Beginning to. Had a bit of an emergency earlier, but things are taken care of and it's time to leave work back at the office."

Theo gazed around, appreciating the time and effort spent into organizing one of these things. He was more than happy to leave the details of the Hearts' summer bash in the capable hands of his Ace and his Jack, thank goodness.

"One thing about the Deck, we do know how to throw parties," he had to laugh. "My mother used to organize them for the Diamonds--I was forever stuffed into a suit and tie and made to be decorative, until I got old enough to run in the opposite direction when she even mentioned the word 'soiree'."

He smiles. "I am glad though that your emergency seems to of turned out alright."

Greylan gave a nod then about the comment of the Deck throwing good parties before smiling wryly about running at the word 'soiree'."My mum was a bit of the same. She made sure me and my twin knew how to dress ourselves, proper manners, the nine yards. So its nice to go to a party that you don't have to worry about that kind of thing." Of course Greylan's mother had been a social climber, more worried about making herself look good in the eyes of her peers. Not that she was a bad mother just different.

He quirks a shrug, not worrying about it. She had been the one that go him his first easel so she recognized her children's various talents and helped nurture them. "I'm hoping to be able to attend more. It seems I've been spending too much time in the kitchen." He chuckles.

Theo nodded. "I agree. It's almost summertime. Not the season to be shackled to the kitchen." He didn't want any of his Hearts to be workaholics, although he himself didn't conform to that maxim.

"This one," he gestured with the can out over the brightly lit floor, "is just the thing, I think. Not too formal that we all have to swelter under tuxes, and not too loose to call for flip-flops." A chuckle. "Trust the Clubs to keep everything in the middle."

"I don't mind the kitchen much, I do enjoy cooking, but too much of even a favorite thing is still tool much." He smiles some before he nods. "They are good at it. Even better is everyone gets to burn off a little energy too." Greylan scans the dance floor and surrounding area. "I really think everyone from the Deck is here." He comments.

Following Greylan's glance, Theo had to agree. "Almost, it looks like. But then it's been a while since we've had a structured shindig like this." Granted, there'd been the bonfire and dance down in Town, but that had been spur-of-the-moment, not choreographed like this.

"It's nice to sit back, relax, and not worry about tomorrow once in a wnile."

"That's true." He certainly hadn't heard of one for a while anyways. Grey makes a soft sound of agreement next. "It is. Its a great atmosphere. I really think everyone needed this."

Theo nodded agreement. "Yep. Although most of us'll probably be getting off to a slow start in the morning." Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but something to keep in mind.
