Okay, what is this all about?

The original idea was something like, 'What would happen if playing cards were living human beings?' And that was pretty much all the planning I had made before posting it at MMW. But it turned bigger (I had more or less jokingly put '...a comm if the idea picks up' in the 'Where?'-section) and... well, here we are.

Is there some sort of premise?

Not really. Most of the 'past' is being built up while playing, which might not be the best concept, but considering that we are basically pulling the game up as we go, it's the best we have at the moment. If you are unsure about things, feel free to ask (via PM or a comment here) and I (or one of the other mods :D) will answer you ASAP.

Wait, the entire playing cards thing - do I have to be good at card games?

No, not really. You should know that there are an Ace, a King, a Queen, a Jack and the Numbers from 2 to 10 in each suit (Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades), plus four Jokers who are 'neutral'.

Is this a community based game?

Partly, yes. If you want something you post at SWS to be treated as game canon, just put an entry into our comm and here we go.

(This does not apply to anything posted before, let's say, the 20th of May, so everybody has time to read this.)

Despite all the chaos, I want to get a character into this! Where do I apply?

There is no real application. Just comment on this post- it pretty much works like a post at MMW.

Can I reserve a certain card?

Yes. Again, just send a comment with the card you wish to play as to the post above. :)

Can I enter a Fandom Character?

This game is an OC-only game at the moment. You can, however, create a character with a similar personality.

How about an Original Character I created before?

If you delete all the backstory you made for him/her so he fits into the game, sure thing.

Are there age restrictions?

No, not at all. Make them as young/old as you want.

And the gender?

Kings are male, Queens are female. The Aces, Jokers, Jacks and Numbers can be of whatever gender you want them to be.

What's with Adult Content?

This is neither a sex- nor a violence- based game, so please be reasonable with it. Which means, yes, you can play it out in the comm, BUT: Lock it. And put a warning on it- A visible warning, please. A simple cut saying something like 'Adult content in post/comments' will do just fine! You can also play it out in your characters profile, but if you want it to be treated as game canon, a link in the comm will be necessary.

Who can I use as a PB?

Anybody whom you see fit, really.

What has happened until now?

Since I am too lazy to update this every week, just ask below and I (or one of my fellow, lovely mods) will provide you with the information.

Where does this play? Kings, Queens... This pretty much sounds medival...

The game takes place in normal, average modern day, really. Though the attitude varies depending on your suit.

My suit?

Like mentioned before, the four suits are Clubs, Diamonds, Hearts and Spades. Each of them has (of course) different characters with different personalities and therefor, they have different views on pretty much everything. For example, the Suit of Spades is known for their intrigues and plotting (even within their own court), whereas the Suit of Hearts treats each other like a family.

How about the plot? And events?

There is an overall plot (I suppose, don't ask, I'm working on it... I think. Just. Don't ask).
Plots can be mod-run as well as player-run, so if you have an idea, just post it in the comm. There will be events every now and again, too.

Please, before you post anything, though, at least PM me (a.k.a Rekla, the headmod) about it. :) I will most likely give a YES, but I would just love to know it so I can plan ahead a little. Yes, I will help you if you need me to, so feel free to ask.

How can I go on a hiatus/slowatus?

A post in the comm is enough, thank you.

What happens to my character when I am on hiatus?

We will be playing around him, meaning that the other character will most likely treat him/her as if he/she went on a vacation.

Someone dropped a character. Can I just join in as said character?

If a character is dropped, it means they left their court. Their position is free and in case one of the other characters of his/her suit is interested in the position, they will have it without a challenge.
Example: The King of Clubs (A) was dropped. You can create a whole new one and say he challenged A and won, taking over his place. Or your character (B) always wanted the position of the King. B then just challenged A (which will be handwaved, since A is already gone) and got the post.

Wait, what. Challenges?

Challenges... Are our answer to how the Kings, Queens and Jacks got their high ranks. Each and every character started out as a two and fought his way through the ranks to the top. If you join in as a new character, you can handwave the early states, or you can start from the beginning, whatever you wish. I volunteer to play an NPC whom you can try to beat to get a few ranks up.

The lowest number rank is a 2, who is a mere servant in the courts, the highest number rank is the ten, who can be pretty much anything from a spy to a mercenary.

Does it have to be a fight?

Not necessarily. If you want to, sure, makes it easier. If not, the mods will suggest something... possibly freaky. <-- I will depend on the characters who are going to take part in the challenge.

Does my character die during that?

If you want them to, sure. If not, then not.

Who can challenge whom?

2s can challenge 3s and 4s, 3s can challenge 4s and 5s... You get the picture.
However, only 10s can challenge the face cards. Male 10s can challenge the Jack and King, female 10s the Jack and Queen.

Do I have to accept a challenge?

No. In case you want to do that, both Muns have to agree. Keep in mind that this is not only a chance for some major plotting, but also a situation in which god-moding is very hard to avoid, so you have to plan a lot of it in advance.

How do I get a challenge started?

With an NPC: Just PM me, we will plot it out.

With another character: Both you and the other Mun will have to PM one of the Mods and we will go from there, depending on whether the two of you have a plot already or not).

Where did the Aces come from, if they aren't challenge-able?

The Aces are the best of the best, that is why they were put into position by the King or Queen of a suit. If one of them drops, another one will take their place.

And the Jokers?

...The Jokers only know where they came from.

About the player contact...?

You do not need to fill it out, but it's always sweet to be able to contact fellow RPers. It makes plotting easier, too.

First, me. Unless I am on a slowatus or hiatus, then please, please ask Ana or Jordan, the other two Mods.
