She's hiding. She's been hiding for a few days now. Of course, she's only hiding from a few people. Chances are, if you're looking for her, she'll let herself be found.

But an angry Piper isn't a happy Piper and a not-happy Piper isn't quite fit for bouncing around the Deck and popping into castles like a happy Piper is. Which is why these past couple days, she's more often up in trees or hiding in bushes or generally not in people's faces.

Which is okay. Right? Piper can take a couple days to be a confused, raw, displeased Felicia, can't she?

He's been Busy. He's been moving people into the Castle and discovering his half-proposal was full-accepted and watching one of his Favourites challenge in Maths and generally running himself to the bone.

But that doesn't mean he doesn't Know his sister is angry at him. That her disappearance from his life doesn't leave him in a Panic at the edge of his own consciousness. That he isn't actually going to make the effort to actually Leave the Castle.

Feilim had liked Trees. Jokers seemed to as well.

He's got his coat in his arms, breath curling in almost invisible smoke as he peers up at her. "Felicia, would you please come down?"

She doesn't say anything. Maybe she can pretend she can't hear him. It's too bad that trees around this time of year don't quite hide her long legs, her orange hair.

After a moment, she glances towards him unconsciously, giving him a piercing look before turning away again. Nope. Not answering.

It shouldn't Hurt. Family isn't a thing that Hurts. It's just a thing that Is.

Losing Feilim had been Painful. This feels almost, Almost like that.

"Please, Piper. Just... for a moment."

It takes her a while to say anything at all. When she does speak, it's not exactly encouraging. "Go talk to her."

She's hurting right now. And so, she's lashing out in the only way she knows how.

Well. At least that means he still knows what's Hurting Her. Something which, at this point, Won't Change the way she wants it to.

"Dunna want her. Want my sister."

Can't he want both? Can't he Love them in completely different ways?

Jokers are absolutely allowed the day off. The week off, if they like. Cynric himself had been known to take almost years off from actually jesting--or even being find-able at all.

But Jokers tend to find other Jokers almost without meaning to. He doesn't know what compels him to peek under the bush until he sees her toes.

"All right, dearheart?"

"No," she murmurs with a pout, peeking out from the bush to see Cynric's face. "S'all wrong. Felicia's mad."

They need more hanging out, man.

Well. That's certainly not the name she uses in a good mood. He tsks as he shifts down to actually sit on the ground across from her, cheek almost to the ground to see her properly. "Is she? Does she need to be cheered or to sulk?"

"Sulk, sulk, sulk." She emerges properly from the bush to sprawl across his lap, dislodging the twigs and leaves in her hair with long, nimble fingers. "Brother doesn't love me."

More better adoption is a go. o/

The click of his tongue is light. The touch of his fingers smoothing her arm is gentle. The affection is palpable.

"That's not very nice of him. Has he said that to you?"

Annie will stay faaaar away. Until she doesn't. :|

Raphael has only just heard about the engagement, which had led him to mutter something under his breath about dodging a bullet and being thankful about leaving while he could. Still, it doesn't mean he's not poking about for his usual painting partner.

If he pokes behind this rock, maybe. Tucked in between the side of whatever building and the boulder. Piper doesn't say anything, but she does childishly stretch her arms towards him.

Clearly his cue to wrap her up and pull her under his chin. "There's a house over the way that's looking awfully drab. Shall we go brighten it up some? Splash paint all everywhere and get this winter over with early?"

"Does Rap still love me?" she asks pitifully and unrelatedly, wrapping her arms around him.

"'Course, lovey. Always love you, blood'r no blood." He ruffles her hair affectionately.

There was a time, Avery thinks, when Piper was a constant presence in Diamond Castle; she was their Joker. She's been drifting to the Spades lately, but that doesn't mean Avery doesn't remember the days when she'd slice shortbread for her in the Diamond kitchens.

"Piper?" She calls up at her. "I've got extra shortbread, if you want any."

"... shortbread for Piper?" She peeks down at Avery before carefully slipping down to the ground, managing to land on her feet even from the height. "For Felicia?

"Your favorite kind," Avery says, opening the tin up and handing over a piece as Piper jumped to the ground. "I haven't seen you in the trees for a while."

Of course, that could be because she's been so busy.

"She's been with silly billies," she murmurs before nibbling at a piece of the baked treat. "No longer."

"No?" Avery takes a piece of shortbread herself, breaking a little bit off. "Did something happen, with one of them?"

It'd been a while since he'd noticed the bounciest Joker taking refuge in her trees. Which meant that something was probably not right. Which in turn led to Piper's Candyman moseying out across the lawn to the specified tree and leaning quietly against it, hands in his jacket pockets.

Ethan didn't call out, didn't look up; she'd know he was there, after all. Piper seldom missed much, and it must be rough indeed if she were taking care to hide away so much. But he couldn't let her be lost alone, now could he? Not a chance.

It won't take her long to blurt out, "he's getting married. And he didn't ask me."

Ethan still didn't look up, or even move from his casual lean against the tree. He did shrug a shoulder, however, hands still in his jacket pockets.

"It happens, carina. It's the way of things, sometimes."

"He loves her more than me. He doesn't care about Piper anymore," she concludes, crossing her arms.

Now he did glance up, giving her an arched eyebrow. "Now you know that's not true, tesora. He cares about and loves Piper and Felicia lots and lots."
