Okay, so I posted only like... four entries ago, but this needed to be posted on its own and it only came up after. See, Alex (Alexander-mun) and I have been having a mini-RP on our own, and along the way it came up that we had fairly differing views on how the Deck works with the outside world.
Alex sees it as having threats outside the deck, "ranging from brigands and neo-Vikings to - for example - a chess piece empire somewhere, isolated from the modern world but accessible and influential to the deck" (which, by the way, I think is a really cool idea), and he's been playing it that way. He also saw it as having "extended boundaries, including other "nations" and bandits in between and whatnot".
Meanwhile, I've been going with "it's sort of isolated from the modern world and few others know about it except those who've left it or are related to people who join it. It probably got attacked in medieval times by those who wanted its resources or a fresh new (albeit tiny) kingdom to rule. Now that it's modern times, they're sort of like the Amish, but richer and less non-electronic.
Any threats they might face would probably be from the government itself, if it knew the Deck existed, or from people who think the Deck is a crazy organisation of some sort. The latter can only come from those who know about the Deck, so we can use hooks like 'person who left the Deck because it's just plain unhealthy' or 'person who hates the Deck because it took away their relative' or something like that."
So yeah, I think we should probably have a more cohesive explanation of the Deck. So just throw in ideas about the Deck that you've had while writing your character(s) and we'll let the mods decide, I guess? I'll edit this post to summarise everyone's ideas.
