The day was rather bright and sunny, warm for a mid-December day. Unfortunately for the townsfolk, all plans of picnicking out on the Green to watch the fireworks that afternoon seemed to have been quashed by the ring of security personnel surrounding the area.
That didn’t mean the people didn’t turn out in droves, it just meant that they pressed against the line of security, straining to be able to see the center of the Green where the four staves still stood. More enterprising individuals watched from building balconies and rooftops, despite more members of security attempting to wave them away.
This was a rather momentous occasion for the Deck, after all, and the Deck seemed discinlined not to witness every last moment.
So when the Royals and their escorts finally arrive, they’ll have a rather large audience. But the Green itself will be empty of anyone else.
