Moving on up? / OTA
Those who have lived on Deck for several years might recall the nine days wonder when the three younger Berthier sisters challenged the eldest sister and tumbled her to the rank of Five. That was over four years ago and Sophie Berthier has only now started her long climb back up. First had come the architect of the plan, her former tutor Emmerich Gerhardt, for Six. That makes Kitty safe, so her sights fix on the youngest twin, Lotty.
She bides her time. Diamond challenges traditionally are made in public, and so it's when Lotty is dining with friends in the Diamond grand dining room that Sophie approaches, nods her head the barest amount permissible from a Six to an Eight, and slaps her across the face with a red leather kidskin gauntlet, a Berthier family heirloom used for just such occasions.
"Charlotte Jacqueline Antoinetta Berthier, Eight of Diamonds, I, Sophie Emmeline Margaux Berthier, Six of Diamonds, do challenge you for the rank of Eight of Diamonds in a public piano recital to last no less than 30 minutes and no longer than one hour to take place at 7PM on Saturday, September 15. How say you?"
She somehow survived the stares and hisses, titters and claps, and Lotty's shocked lunge (only stopped by her date) that would have started a brawl. Now Sophie's wandering the gardens, half shaking, half smiling to herself and (surprisingly) not wringing her hands one bit. She has plans to make.
[ooc: Find her anywhere, not necessarily the Crystal Palace.]
