[ota] beware, be canny and careful

She doesn't regret it in the slightest. What's to regret?

Eileen is fully capable of making her own decisions. She's allowed to decide to leave Kevin behind and go visit the Spade dungeon. And someone--she's not certain who--is also fully capable of infinitely childishly telling Kevin exactly where he or she saw his theoretical charge slipping off to while he was turned around. And Kevin is not just capable but essentially required to tell her mother things like where her daughter was this past weekend.

Which means Eileen Eicheln has, for the first time in her life, seen her mother actually angry. It also means, for the first time in her life and very likely one of the first times in history, the Ace of Clubs is grounded.

Mr Kahl is allowed to bring work and keep her up to date with her studies. A student from Mr DeWitt's class is allowed to spend a bit of time letting her know what's she's missed. The King and Jack are certainly permitted to speak to their Ace at their convenience.

But everyone else? Is getting Kevin's most sympathetic smile and a firm shake of his head. "Seems house arrest is catching."

[ooc; Except probably anyone with half a reason can talk to the moodiest tween about how she done wrong. Kevin is secretly easy. Or just come shoot the shit with Kevin, I guess? o/]

Victor Fox didn't tell anyone why he'd torn out of his office like the fires of hell were nipping at his heels. He barely even spoke to Zoe as he offered her a quick kiss and a 'I need to leave for a few days'. It wasn't, after all, as if he were in the practice of explaining his sudden disappearances to anyone in particular. Katya would get word from Esteban who would give her a completely helpless look when she asked why- 'he said he had to go', he would say and follow it with 'he looked displeased'. Which 'displeased' often described many of the expressions that crossed Victor's features in various stages.

Either way, his small backpack was packed and on his shoulder in less than an hour, various supplies and weapons on him. His customary suit was replaced with cargo pants, plain white tee-shirt and jacket. His polished shoes had become boots. And his expression was certainly one of annoyance as he all but ran down the steps of the castle to where a car waited for him.

If anyone was going to stop him and ask what was going on...now would be there last chance, as he had no intention of taking the 'borrowed' cellphone with him this time.

[OTA] Best Laid Plans...

Declán had recently informed her of his upcoming wedding, only shortly after it reached her through the rumor mill. She hadn't believed it until she heard it from him, of course, because really. Her baby brother? Married? Unlikely at best; downright ridiculous, really.

But then he'd told her, and she didn't have much of a choice in believing it anymore.

The thing about it was that Amy knew what a Chives wedding would entail. She knew what it meant. She knew that it would be insufficient, and she knew that she would have to make something better.

So she was ignoring the tower at her back as she sat in the Green with catalogs surrounding her and a notebook in her lap, pen tapping almost absently while she thought. It would have to be perfect, but it would also have to be carefully put together so that Declán would handle it without having a panic attack meltdown.

Only Perfection would do for him. Little Brother deserved the best.

[The Green.

After so long, so much work returning to the Deck, he hated the very land for a moment.

It had landed him in the Green. Alone, in public view, in midday, amid a swath of empty grass. It was one last petty cruelty, he thought, for the Deck to display his shame in full public view. Even the very earth of his home betrayed him like this.

David had meant to sneak in, silent as a shadow, coming through the woods. To wander halls of all four castles, to be the ghost from people's nightmares brought to life. An avenging shade to feast on their guilt. These people, who didn't even have the decency to let him die with honor and instead left him to slowly rot as a vegetable in a hospital bed.

But no. He washed his hands of that. He would... not forgive. It was too big to forgive. He would accept the reality of his situation.

He returned because there was no where else he could imagine going, and because he would make them look him in the face - his pale, gaunt face - and understand that there were consequences to the choices the made.

They should have killed him.

He wished he thought that in anger.]

Fuck.

[Walking was really his only option here, leaving him wide open to anyone catching him out.]

Greylan was in a particularly bright and cheery mood despite all that had been happening. How could he not? It was just that kind of day and it helped it was his birthday. His father had already stopped by and gifted him new throwing knives, something he'd mentioned in passing that he'd been thinking about getting.

Now he was just wandering around town, enjoying the day

Twenty eight years ago in Sydney, Australia, just after midnight, Dr. Jakob Avery delivered a tiny blond baby girl to Astrid Magnusson and Matthew Hamilton - and being the grateful sorts, they named her Avery Elise, after the doctor and Astrid's own mother.

Life was a little bit simpler then. Life was still simple when they came to the Deck, and first Avery celebrated her birthday with parties, and then with nights out with friends. These days, however, Avery celebrates her birthday with paperwork, and she's ensconced in her office. The corner is filled out with mostly alcoholic tokens of esteem from Diamonds. She's got her head bent to some report, having slipped inside before anyone thought to bar the Ace of Diamonds from working. They probably wouldn't, the way things were.

There was dinner at Ethan's tonight with Jordan making some kind of dubious cake, but other than that? No plans. No minidress to be donned, no parties to go to, no tables to be danced on.

It looked like this last year had made Avery grow up completely in a way most would never have expected her to.

She'd been genuinely concerned that the tremors and her resulting falls would result in damage that would hinder her progress, but the mid-March prognosis had proved to still hold. The doctors had told her that things were going to be far fuzzier from here in terms of recovery-- that this may very well be the end result, or that the time may come when she was able to walk without the cane she now used. It was all just a matter of seeing what she could take, now. And progress is still progress.

Which is why she'll be found taking a stroll that is somewhat lengthier than the ones she's been able to manage, of late.

[OOC: She is wandering pretty much everywhere, but Diamonds or Clubs Castles/gardens are a pretty good bet /o/]
