[ota] we're not the way we used to be
Annie's birthdays are spent Outside, with her father, remembering her dead brother. It's always a solemn day for her, going Out early in the morning, coming back late in the evening. Last year was a bit of an extended outing, a small unplanned road trip with dear daddy.
Today, she's back before sunset and looking rather ruffled. Not exactly the kind of mood a birthday girl or a mourning sister might be in.
