[ota] someday I'll fly away
It was good to be home. Or at least maybe people were of the opinion that it was good to have Addy home again, which they seemed prone to stating over and over as he walked through the hallways on his way to see Argine about coming back to work as Eileen's bodyguard. Not that he had intentions of replacing Kevin, but the poor fella seemed in despite need of a vacation.
What he hadn't expected that morning was the news that the surveillance Elisha had asked him to put on Jack Donovan was terminated as quickly as it had started. Donovan was reported dead at the scene of a crime; apparently trying to stop another member of his team from going rogue. It made for an uncomfortable conversation in the near future with the king of Clubs.
Ah well, there wasn't much he could do on that front. So still, he'd find Argine first and eventually make his way back to the King. Perhaps after unpacking his things and putting them away, and having tea with Eileen.

...well, to visit their Jack. But not like that. And well, really visiting Elani the music tutor. Or more to the point, borrowing some sheet music and somehow getting roped into learning some swing music.
At least he can subject Cynric to it too.
And now he's on his way out, paper in hand, violin case slung over his back. And sidestepping Addy. "S'cuse me, sorry, man."
no subject
"Uh...no worry." Addy said though, looking at the man oddly as he side stepped him before turning to continue on. It was only then that Addy noticed a single sheet of paper. "Dropped something, mate." He said, picking it up off the ground and holding it out to him.
no subject
And he'd only been side-stepping since he'd noticed at the last minute they were about to collide. Seemed the polite thing to do. For the paper, though, he'll reach out with his free hand to accept the dropped piece of music. "Thanks, would hate to lose it and then have to explain where it went to your Jack."
Because, you know, Elani was so intimidating.

"She roped you into doing anything for this dance thing yet?"
no subject
But she might have also realized that being home finally meant he was also had a lot of things to straighten out on his end.
"I take it you've been convinced." What with the music and all.
no subject
Johnny shrugs, "it's not like it really took that much. 'Hey, you want to play some music?' and that's about it. I'm kind of easy."
In more than one respect, but particularly in this one.
no subject
"Being easy has it's downfalls though. No one likes a complete pushover."
no subject
At least he's honest about it.
"You got anything on your list or do you push back about everything?"
Just curious, not actually trying to start anything.
no subject
"Don't worry, I can be gentle about it too."
no subject
Except he just did. "But I promise I won't worry."
Because you know, as long as he doesn't do anything that requires Addy to bounce him out of the Castle, he should be okay, right?
no subject
"But good to know. I'll see you around...."
no subject
And Eileen?
Eileen will stop reading Die Cephalopoden if he comes to have tea with her. "Busy day?"
no subject
He could remember his teens well enough to know just what sort of trouble she'd get herself into in the coming years. Enough so that he'd decided to take the calm approach to things.
no subject
"It's nothing to do with me, Addy." Although getting him a cup of tea is. So, apparently, is smiling more and more like Elisha's habitual smirk. "I think he's just a profoundly lonely human being quite pleased to have found a suitable sort of life-mate."
Tell her she's wrong, sir.
no subject
But that aside, he sipped at his tea before he and leaned back in his chair before he leaned a little to look at the book she was reading. "So, what's that?"
no subject
Or, well. He knew it absolutely wasn't her own fault that she'd started turning into a proper little teenager. That she was doing her best, and that the new working order would be established soon enough.
"It's something age-appropriate." Which will be slid closer to him, open to her current place in the dense German text and colourful illustrations. "I've been slacking on my language study. D'you read a lot out of English?"
no subject
"I don't read much. At least not recently. Should probably do it, would make my mother happy as a clam."
no subject
Surely he doesn't need to understand the words themselves to understand that pictures of squids are a step up from dense political theory.
"What d'you read about, then?"
no subject
"Oh...user manuals mostly." He joked, in a rather serious tone. "And self-help guides. I'm not really one for novels. I spend too much time thinking how implausible it has to do."
no subject
"What about philosophy? History? That sort of thing?"
no subject
"You aren't going to hold that against me, are you?"
no subject
Fair and legitimate question, sir.
no subject
He had to grin at that at least.
no subject
And, more importantly, did he read plays? Because that was what Eileen might have been standing up to grab down from her nearest bookshelf.
