It's Swing Time~
It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.
Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.
"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.
Note: Open to everyone and their brother; tag around, have fun!

i am assuming she went off to do hostessy things and dance with other folk and is back now
So her smile is almost blinding when she finds him again midway through the party, "may I have this dance?"
Probably. :)
"Of course," he says easily, and twirls her as the music starts up again. He hasn't really seen much of her tonight, but that's to be expected, really. It'll probably be better when the Hearts host whatever Theo has up his sleeve for this summer. "Having fun?"
no subject
"It's a blast," she says, happily. "I'm glad people seem to be having fun."
And he will get a flash of a careful look. He's having fun too, right? He's been so weighed down by everything going on his life lately, she was hoping this was helping a little at least for relaxation's sake before he went back to the grind, so to speak.
no subject
"So, my compliments for that," he adds with a grin. "Are you having fun?"
no subject
"And yes...it's. Nice seeing it all come together. And the dancing is delightful." Especially when she has a good partner, as now.
no subject
He didn't mind if there wasn't. Eating barbecue and making fun of his friends trying to play the ukelele would be just as much fun, in the end.
"You worked hard on it," he says, "so you deserve to enjoy yourself now that it's all done. Though I imagine it'll be nice not to have to organize anything in the morning." He'd been there, occasionally, for the over breakfast calls this last week with the caterers, after all. It was enough to make him want to never plan any event, ever.

As for his other comment, she'll laugh lightly, "I might actually get to sleep in a bit. It'll be a novelty. You'll have to give it a try, too."
Because, you know. He hasn't exactly been sleeping so fabulously either.
no subject
He smiles a little, his dimples showing. "Are you going to scold me for not getting eight solid hours a night?" He asked. "Because you're a lot prettier than my mother. Don't tell her I said that, though."
no subject
And really, pushing it farther probably would stray into scolding territory so she'll give his arm a little tug. "Also a dance. Or two."
no subject
"Even three dances, if you think I can be allowed to monopolize the hostess that much."
no subject
"For you? I think I can make room on my dance card. Everybody else can probably manage without me for a bit."
Really, everybody else seemed to be doing just fine by this point.
no subject
"I thought it was about time for that, yeah?"
