cipherspeak: (that's cute darling)

It's Swing Time~

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Elisha's motivation for organizing - or, honestly, delegating the organization of - a semi-formal dance party. Lucinda had suggested a ball, with stars in her eyes. She probably had already picked out ballgowns and themes in her head when Elisha had nixed the thing and - in a moment of desperation, with the memory of the swing-themed Fox wedding still in his head - suggest a Spring Swing, instead.

Everyone had run with it, and Elisha was pleased to say it had come out well. He was even more pleased to say that he didn't have to wear a suit, even if he stepped out into the lantern-lit gardens in everything but the tie. He paused near the raised dais provided for dancing and gave the small band the signal to start up the music before he attempted to fade back in the crowd. Not that that ever worked.

"Let the games begin," he murmured to no one in particular as he picked up a glass of champagne off a tray.

Note: Open to everyone and their brother; tag around, have fun!

"Having enough fun for two of me, promise."

And then he'll nod over to where couples are dancing, "you wanna give it a go?"

Maybe they'd look a bit comical together, but he himself isn't that tall and it wouldn't do for her to be left out of the dancing, now would it? "Surprised you don't have more boys trying to get you out there, though." And he doesn't mean boys like himself, but more the ones that were actually her own age.

Ethan probably didn't count. Elisha certainly didn't count. Johnny, despite being younger than both, surely didn't count either.

The slight roll of her eyes as she holds out a hand for his is probably part of the reason for it.

"If they're not afraid of me, they're afraid of Elisha and my mother."

though the idea of the adults in her life linefacing at the known womanizer dancing with her....hee

"And your bodyguard," he says, nodding in the direction of Addy. "You do seem to collect intimidating people."

Not to mention the former Ace of Spades. Or the former King of Spades for that matter.

"You think I should be afraid of them?" But he's grinning as he spins her so...probably not so much.
lowtohigh: (t. really quite exciting)

Argine and Kevin are certainly less than pleased. :|

How could she help it? Tall, angry men and rough, vicious women seemed to just collect around her and want to keep her safe.

"Absolutely. You won't know what hit you." Which is fun to half-gasp out as she follows his lead. "Even the Jokers are-- rather protective."

And not just David.

"Wonder what they'll do when you start protecting yourself."

Or at least he sure hopes somebody's showing her how to do that too.

"Start?"

Having an army of protective adults was one thing. The fact that more than half of them had taught her six ways to kill someone taller and stronger than herself was another.

He doesn't really keep up with such things, so he shrugs.

"Keep it going, then. Sorry?"

Forgive him because his face is really cute, okay, Eileen.

He does have a cute face. And, more importantly, dancing is likely going to have her giggling.

Hard to look properly cranky while giggling.

"Something like that."

[personal profile] fiddlerjohnny 2013-05-14 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)

Johnny grins and gives her another twirl, "good to know."

Probably it would also be good to know that the girl he's dancing with could kill him six ways from Sunday if she felt so inclined but then...he has no plans on making her want to kill him. They're just having an enjoyable dance.

In all fairness, most men and women from old Deck families started learning that sort of thing when they hit the double-digits.

But that's neither here nor there. That's got nothing to do with the fun of an exciting, energetic sort of dance.

This is much better.
