Kritika can usually be found in different places in the Spades castle curled up with her laptop. During hours on her shifts, of course, she's sure to stay close to Katya's office. Either way, she's often doing work of some sort.

... yes, looking through online catalogs counts. In her defense, it's her birthday in two months, and she needs to choose sari colors before then. "What do you think?" she'll ask to whoever passes by.

"But I would like to know what people think." She bites her lip, one hand going to tug at her ponytail. "I'd just prefer for everyone to be less contradictory."

"It's never too early to plan for a birthday, My Lady." There will come a day when she will want to not be reminded of birthdays, but there was no reason why she couldn't make the most of it and enjoy while she was young and invincible.

"Although, wouldn't you like the planning to be done for you?" What kind of birthday involved doing your own planning? Clearly something went wrong somewhere.

"Megs used to make me put on three-pieces, saying that was as close as I could get to her pain." Though he didn't really think she considered it pain. "You don't make him anymore?"

"Sounds reasonable enough," using a birthday to encourage people to give you things. Which, as long as they're giving you things you actually want or need...he can get behind that. Mostly because its a little manipulative, not because he amasses much in the way of personal possessions.

"And how is her Majesty today?" That is, feeling up to a chat with this Nine in particular?

"Her Majesty is quite lovely, as always. Would you like an audience with her, Sir Nine?" She closes her laptop, getting to her feet.

"Yes, sir." She gives him a snappy salute. "I'll find another occasion for the brighter ones."

"Done for me? Where's the fun then?" She wrinkles her nose. "Only I know what I want, and only I can deliver. I wouldn't leave it to anyone else."

She thinks for a moment, then adds on, "I'm also not quite keen on sharing my measurements. You know, if someone else were to get this sari for me."

"Me? Nah. It's too much work. Madhu insists sometimes, though, just because she likes being the brat of the family," she says in a fairly light voice. "Are three-pieces really that bad? I've always wanted to try one on."

"Whenever she's next available will be fine. No need to hurry, thank you."

It does not do, really, to be impolite to the gatekeeper, after all, and he's fallen far enough in favor.

"It's not too bad, just a lot of steps. Shirt, trousers, belt, braces, tie, vest, jacket, pocket square." He smiles. "But ladies do like the picture."

He snorts, leaning over the desk. "That is like herding sheep, dovey. People can't help but be contradictory. At best you could take the most commonly agreed choice in a poll."

It is very bad of her to move so silently. Very bad indeed to move, soft-footed, from inner office to stop far enough behind Kritika that her PA will not sense her yet close enough that her voice still must come as shock.

"Very pretty. But what shoes will you wear with it?" Shoes being far more important than plumbing report from Maintenance. Katya smiles to self. Not strictly true should castle pipes suddenly seize up.

She jumps, immediately slamming down the Alt-Tab keys on her laptop - but of course, even as the report comes up, she knows she's too late. So with only the slightest hint of shame, she looks over her shoulder and admits, "there was a pair of gold Yves Saint Laurent heels I had my eyes on."

"I suppose you're right. As it stands, you're the only one going for brighter colors, though - so don't complain if I show up in something 'funeral-like'," she tells him, shrugging.

She makes a face. "Forget about liking the picture. I want to actually put one on."

"Yes, Chives, somewhere else." Because really, who doesn't want to please Chives?

Oh the drama. Oh the flopping on her desk and then wincing because he's getting poked by pens. At least, he hopes it's pens. Given their Suit, it could very well be worse. "I shan't say a word about your clothing. About everyone else's taste, though..."

"Then you should." He shrugs. "If you want the name of my tailor, he'd probably make one for you."

"I know, I know, it's terrible. But I'm taking a vote, remember," she teases. "Unless you can wrangle people into coming up to me and voting green and gold."

"Could you?" she asks, grinning. "Mom will screech like anything, but I'll ask Ishani to deal with her."

He leans over to pick up her message pad and a pen, and scribbles a name and address on it. "He's a Diamond, so snooty as hell," Jordan says, "buthe might like the challenge."

"I can deal with snootiness. I'm a rock star." She reaches a hand out to shake. "Thank you very much, Mr. Novak."

He props himself up on his elbows, chin balanced on the backs of his hands. "Really. Who all's been voting against me, so I know not to bother?"
