[OTA] A lovely night

It's a bit impromptu but anyone wandering by the Green on this warm evening will find it lit by fairy lights everywhere and a few Deck musicians have set up in one corner and are taking requests.

And right out in the middle of things, Elani can be found dancing with anyone who offers.

[ooc: yes, blame Dancing with the Stars. And Qi. But anyway...come out and dance! With Elani...or otherwise. :)]

It seems that since he arrived on Deck, the number of nights he felt the need to get away had only increased as he's slowly starting to try and become more active in Court. Although he's debated moving to Town, for now he clears his head by taking long walks when he can get away.

As he wandered towards Town, he thought he could hear music on the wind. Intrigued, he followed the music and to the impromptu dance that seems to have set itself up. For now he stood towards the edge of the dance floor and watched, hesitant to walk out on to the floor. Dancing wasn't his forte, even having attended any number of dances since his arrival.

Oh, he can't stand on the sidelines for too long until Elani comes over to him with a welcoming smile.

"Care to dance?"

Or maybe he just liked watching? Still, it would be rude not to offer...

He's admittedly a bit surprised to see someone approaching him, let alone the woman who seemingly is the life of this party. He's been meeting to meet more people, and dancing did seem a like a good way to let go of some stress, even for a few minutes.

"It'd be my honor." He smiled, and then added humorously. "I promise I don't have two left feet, but you probably shouldn't expect much more than that."

She laughed, "I promise not to expect more than a nice time with a new partner, how's that?" Pause.

"Oh, I'm Elani, by the way."

"Deal."

He waited for an appropriate beat and then eased them back onto the floor.

"Elijah. If you don't mind me saying, you seem quite at home on the dance floor."

"Oh, I was practically born here," she grinned at him as they moved about the dance floor, "or it runs in my family, anyway. You should see my brother dance."

"You're brother is a better than you are?" He sounds rather skeptical. "I find that hard to believe. Clearly you're the best one out here right now.

I myself just started learning not that long ago. Not too much call for it back home."

"Better?" She appeared to think about it for a moment, "mmm...I guess you'd have to see us dance together and decide?" She nodded over to where Evan could be seen. "But thank you for the compliment!"

Another moment, then, "did you just get here recently, then?"

He looked in the direction where was looking and nodded politely in Evan's direction. It was only right to acknowledge him since they were technically talking about him.

"Perhaps." He smiled. "Or maybe I should just use the time to take notes. No shame in learning from the best."

He's doing his best to concentrate on the dance without taking his attention away from Elani.

He nodded. "About a year ago or so? Feels quicker than that. Time flies when everything gets upended."

No regrets. NONE.

Well. How can he say no to salsa? Or Elani? Or salsa on the Green?

It's just an impossibility. Like it's an impossibility for there to be musicians set up for dancers and Evan not to appear on the scene likely moments later.

So obviously it's an impossibility that Elani won't pounce her brother as soon as she catches sight of him, laughing.

"May I have this dance?"

And of course she's caught, swung, laughed with contentedly before set down so they can fall into step. "Have I ever denied you anything, sister mine?"

"I can't think of a thing," she assures him with a pleased smile as they move in time together.

Evan really was so often the best dance partner. And brother. Definitely the best brother.

"Oh good. I was afraid I'd done something wrong." Salsa requires a little more concentration than the usual reeling they do, but that hardly means they can't chat a bit. Elani is an ideal dance partner, after all--they've been naturally in sync since they were children, after all.

Part of being the best brother and sister team ever, that.

"Just out for a bit of fun tonight, then?"

"Never ever, brother."

They might even be drawing an audience, after a certain point, though Elani's too focused on the dance to pay attention to who's watching.

And she nodded with a bright smile. "Thought we could use it."

They tend to, when they dance together. It can't be helped. Best to ignore it in favour of enjoying the dance.

"I'd say. You're a clever one."

She laughed, her arms tightening on him a moment in something like a hug. Or as close as one can get when dancing the salsa.

"I have my moments."

Because Club Love is GOOD LOVE.

Hey, Rylan can get behind this. He loves an impromptu party. Particularly one that's thrown by a Club. Why? Because they were generally damn good parties. Leaning against a tree, he watches Elani dance around, pleased that there's some revelry going on, even with all the other crap that's flying about.

Eventually, Elani will dance over to Rylan, hips shaking to the beat, and a smile on her face. "Are you only going to watch, then, Ry?"

"Yep. Don't want to step on those twinkling toes, Lani. Besides, I'd slow you down." He grins back at her, enjoying her enjoyment of the moment.

"Oh, I promise to go slow just for you." And have a teasing smile, Ry.

"Why do I have a feeling there's some kind of bet going on between you and your brother regarding my dancing skills - or lack thereof?" She gets one back, followed by him reaching out and flicking away a strand of hair.

Elani made a face at that and poked him, "do you really think we'd bet on our friends like that?"

"Oh, it's a guarantee." He beamed back at her, giving her a gentle nudge back.

"Oh you do us wrong. I'm sure if Evan were over here he'd share my shock and dismay."

But her grin kind of ruins the effect of her words.
