Kritika can usually be found in different places in the Spades castle curled up with her laptop. During hours on her shifts, of course, she's sure to stay close to Katya's office. Either way, she's often doing work of some sort.

... yes, looking through online catalogs counts. In her defense, it's her birthday in two months, and she needs to choose sari colors before then. "What do you think?" she'll ask to whoever passes by.

Julien pauses, raises his eyebrows curiously. "Did you actually want my opinion?"

It's not exactly often a young lady asks his thoughts on clothing choices, after all, for all he's rather known for generally being well-tailored himself.

"... yes? I wouldn't have asked otherwise." She raises an eyebrow, then shrugs. "Are you inclined to any combination?"

He shrugs slightly, leans down a bit to peer at her computer screen. "I suppose if I had to choose...the green and gold."

As he straightens up, "seems like quite a lot of fabric to carry around."

Of course, he felt that way about many women's formalwear.

She hums noncommittally at his suggestion, opening the sari in a different tab. "If it's worn properly, most of it goes over your shoulder or into the pleats. Wearing one is really not as bad as everyone makes it out to be."

Being hidden off in a corner hardly meant being allowed to Miss tea. And having a birthday upcoming hardly meant that slacking off wouldn't receive an Arched brow of something not quite strong enough to be properly called Disapproval.

"...a bit bright, Miss Six."

"You see, the gold is a bit bright. Maybe this purple?" She looks up briefly from her laptop to take the tea with a faint smile. "Thank you very much."

His lips press absently together for a moment, attention on properly setting the Tea for her. Clearly there's no need to respond to Thanking when the Thanking is unnecessary.

"Something more conservative." In colour, clearly. "It's more suited."

To her skin. Her hair. Their Suit.

"Indian clothing isn't often good at conservative," she murmurs, though it's with an amused tone. "Ah- how about this dark blue and maroon one? Better?"

[intolerantly]

"A bit early for shopping, isn't it?" Then again, Kritka wasn't Ivona's assistant, perhaps Her Majesty didn't mind a bit of laxity here and there. Nevertheless, she wasn't here to police the secretaries, so.

Ivona craned her head around to look at the offered selection, eyebrow going up in criticism. "A bit...garish, wouldn't you say? All those symmetrical lines, tsk." She shook her head. "Geometric, dear. That's what you need. And something muted in color, not so...unflattering."

That said, she placed the stack of neatly organized folders on the Six's desk, adding in a pleasant tone, "The recommendations Her Majesty requested. Do please ensure she receives them, hm?"

"Well, I need to get the sari made and tailored, and I'd like to do it in advance so that my tailor doesn't go insane." She hums a little to herself, scrolling through the selection as Ivona looks. "The colors might seem garish and unflattering on the screen, but the bold combinations actually do work. Trust me."

And with a smile, she accepts the folders. "I'll get them to her as soon as possible."

"Whatever works for you, dear," Ivona shrugged. "I suppose the voice of experience tends to drown out the one or reason. But, to each her own, yes?" She shook her head with a light little laugh.

But, back to business. "And do let her know I'll be in my office until nine if she requires any further details, but I believe she'll find all in order with what's presented."

"And the voice of reason sounds oddly like the voice of ignorance when it suggests that experience in this matter is unimportant," she says lightly. "I'll let her know, but I'm sure she'll find everything fine."

"Ooooo." He crouched down next to Kritika to get a better look at the green and gold sari on the screen. If he's at all bothered by the fact that she's loafing around during work hours, it certainly didn't show.

"I like it. The gold trimming is nice. Would be easy to match with gold accessories." So Michael might be a terrible shopper if he got dragged along to anything in person, but he's at least been trained to say sensible, appropriate things.

"It looks like it would take hours to pin together. I don't know where you find the patience for it."

"Well-said," she says, smiling just a little mischievously. "Nice save. And- I mean, I guess it'd look complicated to someone like you, but I've been running around in saris since I was three. It's really not a big deal."

"I'll have you know that sometimes I do actually manage to say the right thing at the right time." And there have even been times where he's done so before getting slapped on the arm or decked on the head.

"Is this for any occasion in particular?"

"I'm so impressed! Honestly. You are a god amongst men." Only her eyes betray the teasing in her words.

"It's for my birthday. Which... is in two months, but it doesn't hurt to plan, right?"

It's been some time, Jordan thinks, since he's been asked his opinion on a sari. Not that Meghana often did, really; she mostly wore Western clothes, and was estranged enough from the other Sankarans that she hadn't gone to that many events in a sari.

He could only remember the one time, really.

"The purple is nice," he said after a somewhat pregnant pause. "The green is too, but the embroidery's a bit...much."

Just in his opinion.

It was different for Kritika. She had once fussed about wearing Indian fashion, but now wore Western and more cultural clothing interchangeably. After all, she was wearing a kurti top with jeans as she spoke.

"Yeah, the embroidery is something to watch out for. The more there is, the more it'll itch like crazy. I mean, I can deal with the whole 'pinning everything into place' that most people are concerned about, but I cannot handle itchy saris."

She had told him, once, that she wanted to wear a red sari when she married - casually, like a throwaway comment - but it had made his heart stop a little bit. He was only twenty-six, after all. Then he had started to think that it wasn't such a terrible idea...and then she'd left the Deck with just a letter.

So. So much for that.

"The purple has some nice edging embroidery," Jordan says. "Maybe that will itch less? I have no idea, really." He laughs a little bit. "The men's clothing doesn't seem as complicated."

"Really?" he asks, frowning as he cranes to see the image on the screen. "I thought you wore those things for special occasions. This one looks like you were invited to some great-aunt's deathbed."

"Shut up, Rap," she protests. "Everyone has been saying 'oh, that's so bold, that's too bright, that's incredibly garish', and now you come and call my gorgeous muted selections funeral-like. I give up."

He rolls his eyes and sighs obnoxiously hard, flapping his lips with the force of it. "Then what are you asking for, mm? Let us all go and make up your mind without our opinions coming left and right to sway you."

It is very bad of her to move so silently. Very bad indeed to move, soft-footed, from inner office to stop far enough behind Kritika that her PA will not sense her yet close enough that her voice still must come as shock.

"Very pretty. But what shoes will you wear with it?" Shoes being far more important than plumbing report from Maintenance. Katya smiles to self. Not strictly true should castle pipes suddenly seize up.

She jumps, immediately slamming down the Alt-Tab keys on her laptop - but of course, even as the report comes up, she knows she's too late. So with only the slightest hint of shame, she looks over her shoulder and admits, "there was a pair of gold Yves Saint Laurent heels I had my eyes on."

"But I was not through looking. Please return." She is good person and does not reach over Kritika's shoulder to tab back herself."You would not wear traditional footwear?"

Relax. She knows her PA is current on her work and not slacking off.
